Please provide a way to store the Settings/Schedules in a Bookmark folder, like it happens with “Quickfox Notes” addon, so that the Settings/Schedules can be synched optionally across multiple systems using bookmark synching add-ons, like XMarks, between multiple systems rather than copying the text file and pasting it on the target system. Probably you can try by automating the pasting of Settings/Schedules.txt contents into a new tab in “QuickFox notes”, a notes taking add-on, which synch across multiple systems by working with Firefox Synch or “XMarks” addon.

      Hi Whichy,
I will have a look at the feasibility of a Bookmark folder and determine if that is possible.

        Hi Whichy,
You can now synchronize your schedules with the “XMarks” addon.
Select the “Save to Bookmark” check-box option.

The following URL,for example, is not working with dynamic dates feature. “http://epaper.andhrajyothy.com/PUBLICATIONS/AJ/AJyothi/2012/03/06/PagePrint/06_03_2012_001.pdf”. I tried this by giving “http://epaper.andhrajyothy.com/PUBLICATIONS/AJ/AJyothi/{YYYY/MM/DD}/PagePrint/{DD}_{MM}_{YYYY}_001.pdf”. Probably because of the format “DD_MM_YYYY”. Please try to replace {DD}/{D} with date, {MM}/{M} with month and {YYYY}/{YY} with year where even they appear. We never know which URL uses which date format. Hence the suggestion. Please do this modification.

        Hi Scott,
        Please fix this minor bugs/issues.
        1) The following is not working with Dynamic Dates feature. “http://www.suryaa.com/main/gallery/eMagazines/pragna/2012/Mar-21-2012/pdf/1.pdf”. I tried setting “http://www.suryaa.com/main/gallery/eMagazines/Pragna/{YYYY}/{MMM-DD-YYYY}/pdf/1.pdf”. It is not working for “MMM”. Please resolve this

        2) No “Home” and “End” keys are functioning in “Website” field after selecting the URL for editing. Only arrow keys are working in Windows.

        Thanks
        Whichy.

        Hi Scott,
Please refer the link “http://goo.gl/2Risb”. Even if you feel that there are no such standards and satisfied, Please make “MMM” (Ex : Jan, Mar, Nov etc..) and 4Ms (“MMMM”) for full month name (Ex : January, May, April, March etc..) available for use in your addon. smaller “mmm” should replace (apr, mar, jan etc,,) and similarly with 4ms (“mmmm”) for “january, may” etc.. Pls implement this feature at it would be much useful all the users who uses this addon for scheduling.

        Thanks.

        Hi Whichy,

The key word you missed is INTERNATIONAL and how they apply to other LANGUAGES.
My Weekly Browsing Schedule is available in 13 different languages. There is just too much complexity in implementing this across all the 13 different languages. So I will not be doing this.

        Regards
        Scott

    1) Please make it compatible with Firefox 11.0 version. It is NOT shown in search results in addon page as it is incompatible.

    2) If i have a new machine “B” with “My Weekly Browsing History” addon installed, Old machine “A” schedules synched through XMarks are NOT shown in new machine schedules window. It is shown just blank. Pls have the functionality of synching which reflects finally in “Schedules” window. Schedule window should look the same in all the machines after XMarks Synch automatically.

    3) If machine A has Schedules S1 & machine B has schedules S2, Does synching from Machine B contains B contents or A contents finally in bookmark folder? It should be merge of both.

    Hi Whichy,

    1) Done – there was a slight delay yesterday

    2) You can use the Xmarks restore function to initially setup the bookmarks on the new machine. I will make an update for the next version which automatically detects the “My Weekly Browsing Schedule” bookmark on a new machine and have it load the schedules from that bookmark when the Schedules window is opened.

    3) The synchronization by Xmarks seems to simply write over the top of the Bookmark Description field, so a merge is not possible.

    4) You can try to rename the “My Weekly Browsing Schedule” bookmark – it should work (but I have not tried it myself). You MUST NOT change the URL field or the Description field of the “My Weekly Browsing Schedule” bookmark. My recommendation would be not to change the name, but to consider creating a new Bookmark Folder with the name you want and move (drag & drop) the “My Weekly Browsing Schedule” bookmark into that new Bookmark Folder instead.

Hi, Thanks for your quick responses. By anticipating the potentiality of your addon by bringing minor changes in it, I wanted to suggest you more on your addon.

    1) Pls provide us a flag field to open an URL ONLY ONCE in a fresh day when we start the browser for the first time in a day instead of opening the URL every time we start the browser (current available functionality).
Example: Reading an online news paper. Every body wants to read the news paper only once in a day but not every time when a browser is started in that day.

    2) If possible, provide us a way to set a time which reflects all schedules time settings based on the time span.
Example : Consider a real time scenario of a guy reading a news paper at 9:00 am for 15 minutes, check my mails at 9:15 for 10 minutes and follow market news at 9:25 for 5 minutes. Currently he needs to set those 3 URLs with static timings. If we can have a choice to set the global variable as 9:00 am and set Newspaper : +0, Mails : +15 and market : +25, the user can always shift his schedules in one shot instead of modifying each and every schedule.

    3) With regard to new XMarks synchronization feature, Pls give a try if it is possible to select a profile from a drop down ( profile like Office, House, Studies) in the addon window/settings which enables us to choose a list of schedules in the selected profile to be run in the current machine. Finally, XMarks should carry all the profiles data.

Do consider my suggestions and make this addon much more powerful. I am sure many users would like these features.

    Thanks

      Hi Whichy,

      1) You can already do this. Just set the time to very early in the day, say 4.00am. Then when you start Firefox for the first time that day at 7.00am or 8.00am or 9.00am, that website will load just once that day.

      2) You can simply change the time manually yourself in a minute or so. This is really a “Nice to Have” feature rather than a necessary feature. So I wont be doing this as it would require significant programming changes.

      3) I dont quite understand this question. The whole purpose of synchronization is to allow you to keep the SAME schedules across different computers. If you want DIFFERENT schedules for different computers (eg Home computer & Work computer) then simply dont synchronize the schedules.

If you want to separate the schedules in Xmarks you could use the Xmarks profile function.
For example you could create a Bookmark Folder on the Work computer called Work and create a Bookmark Folder on the Home computer called Home.
Then on the Work computer move the “My Weekly Browsing Schedule” Bookmark to that Work folder, and update the “Work” Xmarks profile to include the Work bookmark folder, but NOT the Home bookmark folder.
Then on the Home computer move the “My Weekly Browsing Schedule” Bookmark to that Home folder, and update the “Home” Xmarks profile to include the Home bookmark folder, but NOT the Work bookmark folder.
This would enable you to keep all Work computers in sync and all Home computers in sync, if for example you had 6 Work computers and 2 Home computers.
If you want to temporarily access the Work schedules from Home, you could log into my.xmarks.com and temporarily swap the Work “My Weekly Browsing Schedule” Bookmark into the Home Bookmark folder and vice-versa, then synchronize. You MUST only have One copy of the “My Weekly Browsing Schedule” Bookmark in the Work folder and One copy in the Home folder at any time, duplicate “My Weekly Browsing Schedule” Bookmarks not permitted in the same folder. When you are finished, then reverse the process to put the Work schedules back in the Work folder and the Home schedules back in the Home folder and synchronize. You need to exercise care when doing this to make sure you have the correct schedules in the correct folders.

        Hi Scott,
Regarding first point, as you said i just schedule the time to 4:00 AM for an URL and checked the # flag to catch up the missed schedule to open the website when i open the firefox for first time. I generally switch on my machine at 11:00 AM and browse. I do NOT observe the sites are being opened. Can you please suggest? I am using firefox 11.0 and Windows 8 preview.

Question : Can you please tell me what exactly the weekdays check boxes are useful provided in “Import Schedules” sections available in “Options and preference” window?. When i check any box, say OK and comeback, i don’t see that check box is still checked. Might be it is not getting saved. Please explain.

        Thanks,
        Whichy.

        Hi Whichy,

        1) You dont need to set the catchup flag if you dont want to. Just tick the day of the week that you want the website to open.
For example this morning (Monday) I have websites scheduled to open between 7.00am and 8.00am, but this morning I didnt switch on my computer until 8.30am, so when I switched it on all the 7.00am to 8.00am websites opened automatically when the browser starts.

        2) The Import Websites from text file is designed for INITIAL setup of schedules only. It was a feature requested by someone who had hundreds of websites that he wanted to initially import. He had text files for each day of the week, eg Monday.txt, Tuesday.txt etc. So to use it for Monday.txt, simply tick the Mon box and click the Import button then locate the Monday.txt file and click Open and finally OK. This will load all the websites from Monday.txt into the Schedules table with the Mon box already ticked. Then repeat for Tuesday, Wednesday etc. Again this function is designed only for INITIAL setup of schedules.

        Regards
        Scott

    Hi Scott,
Thanks for the quick reply. If the addon opens a website when me miss the schedule even when the “#” flag is unchecked, as you mentioned in first point, Can you pls tell me the use of “#” flag? Where exactly the flag makes the difference? Pls explain me with a scenario.

    Thanks,
    Whichy

    1. Scott Post author

      Hi Whichy,

The catchup flag is in case you miss a scheduled website.
For example: Say that you have a scheduled website only for Saturdays. Say that you are away from your computer for one weekend (holiday, business trip) from Friday afternoon to Monday morning.
If you set the Catchup # for the Saturday website, then it will open automatically when you start the browser on Monday morning.
If you do not set the Catchup # for the Saturday website, then it will not open on Monday morning (because it is not Saturday).

      Regards
      Scott
